From Factory Floor to Enterprise Ownership: Rebuilding Vulnerable Livelihoods with Resilience and Skills

How JBSB, CARE Bangladesh, and H&M Foundation are empowering 260 former RMG female workers into self-sustaining entrepreneurs.

JBSB CARE Bangladesh Oporajita Training Launch

The Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh has long been the backbone of the national economy, powered predominantly by millions of hardworking women. However, recent unprecedented challenges—ranging from post-pandemic economic shocks to the rapid acceleration of factory automation—have left many female garment workers facing job instability, displacement, and uncertain financial futures.

Systemic challenges, however, cannot be solved with temporary relief. They demand long-term, sustainable, and structural solutions.

At Job Booster Social Bangladesh (JBSB), we believe in turning vulnerability into empowerment. Under CARE Bangladesh’s Oporajita Phase-II project, generously funded by the H&M Foundation, JBSB has officially embarked on a transformative journey: providing Practical Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training to 260 incredible women across Bangladesh.

📌 The Core Impact: 260 Women, 260 Sustainable Enterprises

On September 13th, JBSB officially launched this intensive training series designed specifically for former RMG female workers who are ready to pivot their lives and secure complete financial independence.

Why This Matters: The Ripple Effect of Female Entrepreneurship

When a woman transitions from a vulnerable factory position to owning and running her own independent business, the positive impact ripples across society:

  • Direct Economic Security: She shifts from high-vulnerability wage dependency to direct ownership of her financial growth.
  • Family Well-being: Research consistently shows that female entrepreneurs reinvest up to 90% of their income back into family nutrition, healthcare, and their children’s education.
  • Community Transformation: As these 260 businesses take root, they strengthen local micro-economies, generate localized employment opportunities, and inspire other women to pursue financial independence.

“We are not just teaching business mechanics; we are future-proofing livelihoods. When a woman transitions from a vulnerable job to running her own business, she secures her future, protects her family, and reshapes her community.”
